Lennon was born on October 9th, 1940 in Liverpool England. He had nearly no relationship with his father and a very lose one with his mother. As one of the main song writers, Lennon played an important role in the success of the Beatles. Most of the Beatles’s hit songs were either written by John or Paul. While this statement caused much anger, it also catapulted Lennon’s world view.

In 1968, Powell and Lennon divorced shortly after he had met Yoko Ono. Together, Lennon worked on a solo project with her, led peace protest and began focusing on a life without the Beatles. In 1970, the group public ally announced that they had split up. Right after, Lennon and Ono released their album.

In 1971, Lennon released one of the most influential songs of his career. “Imagine” highlighted an optimistic view of humanity from the eyes of a great song writer. Later that year, the couple moved to New York. Threats of deportation for drugs and activism against the unpopular war helped keep Lennon and Ono in the public eye.

Like Harrison, Lennon used his fame to provide a charity concert. In 1972, he held a concert that was aimed to benefit handicap children. He also temporarily separated from Ono and went to Los Angeles. There he spent time at parties with his mistress and many celebrities. This became known as The Lost Weekend.

Lennon later reunited with Ono and they moved into the Dakota in New York City. They had their first and only child Sean Lennon. Lennon also fully retired from music to be a stay at home dad.

On December 8th, 1980, Lennon unexpectedly died when he was shot multiple times by Mark David Chapman. He died at the age of 40. After his death, Ono became the voice of John Lennon. She has held many remembering and ceremonies on his behalf. Both his sons, Julian and Sean have had short music careers. Lennon has also many interviews and songs that were never released.

Prior to joining the Beatles, Ringo played in a Liverpool based band named Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He drummed for them from 1959 to 1962 and then left that band to play with the Beatles. He was taken on because he was easy going and was better than the typical drummer

Ringo was the drummer for the Beatles during their ten year run. Because he was strictly a drummer, he was confined to only beats and very little song writing. He did however write a couple of Beatles songs and was able to sing on at least one song per album. He also contributed to writing lyrics and helped organized songs.

Like all the other Beatles, Ringo did not want his career to be solely defined by what he did with the group. After the group split in 1972, Ringo released his solo album “Photograph”, which topped the billboard charts.

Ringo also did a handful of things outside of music as well. He began acting and directing films. In 1972, Ringo played a part in the “Magic Christian” and in “200 Motels”. He also directed “Born to Boogie”, a concert film about the band T. Rex. Through is famed music career, Ringo was able to capitalize on his relationship with celebrities and diversify his career.

Through line up changes, they became the Silver Beetles and eventually just the Beatles.

Like all the other Beatles, Harrison played a unique and important role to the group’s success. He was not only the lead guitarist, but he also contributed to the vocals of songs. Because of his interest in Middle Eastern culture and music, the Beatles were able to diversify their sound by adding the signature sound of the sitar.

Some of the songs that Harrison wrote were “Here Comes the Sun” “Something” and “While my guitar gently weeps” Outside of a handful of songs, Paul and John wrote a majority of the album tunes and that was one determining factor in the Beatles split.

After the group parted, Harrison began working on his solo career and persuading different avenues. In 1971, he hosted two benefit concerts in Madison Square Garden. It was designated to help the people of Bangladesh. To help generate more money, Harrison included famous guitarist Eric Clapton, song writer Bob Dylan and former band member Ringo Starr.

Like Lennon, Harrison also took some time off from music and the media. In the early 1980s, Harrison began auto-racing, gardening and film production. In 1994, he got together with Ringo and Paul to record “Free as a Bird” for the Beatles Anthology album. It was the first song the surviving members had produced together in three decades.

In 1998, Harrison announced that he had throat cancer. The next year he was stabbed by a heroin addict outside his house in Oxfordshire. After Harrison recovered, he kept recording and producing. On November 29th, 2009, Harrison passed away.

He had two wives during his career. He married early to Pattie Boyd and then again to Olivia Arias the two remained married and they had a son together named Dhani. Right before his death, Harrison and his son were working on an album together.

Paul McCartney was born on June 18th, 1942 in Liverpool. His father was a jazz musician and contributed greatly to Paul’s song writing ability. In 1956, he bought his first guitar and began player. Shortly after that, he met Lennon and joined his band the Quarrymen. After a few line up changes, the group became the Silver Beetles and then just the Beatles.

McCartney contributed greatly to the success of the Beatles. Many of the most famous Beatles tunes were written and sung by McCartney. Even though he was well versed in both guitar and piano, he played the bass in the band. He was considered to be one of the greatest song writers of all time because of his success.

Not long after his marriage to Linda Eastman, the Beatles spilt up in 1970. Like John, George and Ringo, McCartney began releasing solo projects. His first solo project went double platinum internationally with the hit song “Maybe I’m Amazed”.

Like Lennon, McCartney worked with his wife on music. In 1971, the two formed the group Wings. The group would have musicians come and go through out the next several years. The group also had only one U.S. hit which was Red Rose Speedway.

After nearly a decade, Wings broke up and McCartney continued with his solo career. In 1981, he released a solo album Tug-a-War which featured Ringo Starr and Stevie Wonder in some of the hits. With the success of many solo songs, Wing tours and his latest project, McCartney proved that he was able to still write hits

One of the best finical decisions McCartney made was to purchase the copyrights of pop-songs. He owned the rights to Buddy Holly, Beatle Songs and many more songs. By investing in songs, commercials and televisions shows owed McCartney royalty every time they played the song. In the 1980s, McCartney found himself in a losing bid against Michael Jackson for a lot of the Beatles songs.

In 1997, McCartney was knighted by the Queen of England. He was the only Beatle to be knighted. The next year, McCartney lost his wife when she died of breast cancer. After her death, McCartney formed a new band with former members of Pink Floyd and 1999, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the second time for his solo work.

Since then, McCartney has made many public appearances such as the 2006 Super bowl half time show and writing the Vanilla Sky Soundtrack. McCartney has shown a very successful career after the Beatles. He considered one of the greatest song writers of all time.
